Does anyone know what happened to Roy Ortiz, LAPD Polygraph and APA Board member? I reached out for Roy about a month ago and all I got was, "he no longer works here." I got a hold of one of his former associates, but all he would tell me is that an issue came up and he was no longer working in polygraph. IP: Logged |

Last I heard, he was working in a non-polygraph related division of LAPD. The name was of the division was posted on the anti-site.I have also heard but not confirmed that Roy retired altogether. Ted IP: Logged |

Roy has not retired. He is the seminar program chair and I'm the committee chair, so we're in contact with each other quite often. I still email him at the work address, so he's still working there, but where exactly I don't know.I have never asked his status; although, I will say I've heard this question a lot as I've been recruiting speakers. I'd suggest somebody ask him if you really want the record set straight. He could be our president elect - elect. It's either Roy or Dan S. If there's going to be a problem, it should be addressed. However, if enough people have bought into the rumors - true or not - I'd predict Dan won. It hadn't occurred to me how many people asked that question until I saw it here in writing. IP: Logged |

Hello Folks:I would like to set the record straight about the results of the election. As of this current moment, I have no idea of who won what. I am like all of the candidates who are living in the state of limbo until the results are made known by the Fair Elections Committee. I wish I did know the outcome of the election so I can put it behind me and move on especially being here in Baghdad with a of time on my hands once teaching is over. Thanks Dan IP: Logged |

It took me four phone calls, but Roy is now working in another division for LAPD. I left him a voice mail and hope to speak with him in the near future.IP: Logged |

Not knowing Roy, I must admit that his reputted "problem" with LAPD is troublesome to the organization, if it isn't disclosed to the membership. It's kinda tacky, but elected officials (and candidates) should disclose any potential scandel that involves recent professional history. Dare I say that George M. would be proven right if Roy were elected and the scandel were true-----that we are a bunch of mobsters who slip and slide our way out of real trouble without consequence or responsibility. Our professions' flag ship office would be held by a reputted crook.I hope for the profession's sake---and even Roy and his family's sake that the accusations/rumors are untrue----that he did not manipulate results and/or make phoney calls.
